Irvine Meadow have snapped up midfielder Simon McBryde from North Ayrshire rivals Largs Thistle, the Barrfields club have confirmed.

McBryde has been a combative midfielder for Largs over the past four years, and has also weighed in with some crucial goals for the club, including the below strike at St Roch's in a cup tie two seasons back.

McBryde has notched three goals in 18 appearances for Largs this season, and has made a total of 97 appearances for Thistle, according to the club website.

In McBryde's first season with Thistle he was the veteran of the team - despite being only 25 - as the Largs coaching staff pushed new young talent into the side.

He was a favourite of both coaching staff and supporters for his strong work ethic, determination and positive attitude.

Irvine Times:

The 29-year-old has a fight on his hands at his new club, with Medda - who appointed Ben Carson as their new manager recently after the departures of Martin Ferry and Des Roache - lying bottom of the West of Scotland Football League's Premier Division.

He's set to face his old club when the two North Ayrshire rivals clash at Barrfields on February 17.
