With a General Election required to be held by January 2025 at the very latest, this is likely to be my last Christmas as your Member of Parliament.

As such, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported or engaged with me over the last eight and a half years, particularly the fantastic voluntary groups who work so hard to improve their local area and make their communities more welcoming and inclusive.

The energy, commitment and determination of volunteers and activists is inspiring, and the support provided is vital for many, not least those facing the financial strain of exorbitant food and energy prices this winter or struggling with loneliness and isolation.

Of course, we can all do our bit by popping a couple of items in the foodbank collection or checking in on a vulnerable neighbour - small gestures often have the greatest impact.

As we see the devastation and suffering of war continue in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan and Yemen, let us all reach out a welcoming hand to those driven to seek sanctuary here in Scotland, and pray for a better way forward in the coming year.

I wish you and your loved ones a Peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
