AN IRVINE man has received "overwhelming support" as he prepares to take part in the London Marathon this weekend.
Mike Tubb will be completing the 26.2 mile run all in the name of a fantastic case - the Beatson Cancer Charity.
It is an organisation close to the heart of Mike and his family, with his sister-in-law Zoe Hutchison currently battling the disease.
The Irvine woman underwent emergency surgery just before Christmas to remove a rare ovarian cancer.
Then, only three days after celebrating her 40th birthday in January, Zoe started chemotherapy at the Beatson in Glasgow.
It was Zoe's brave battle which inspired Mike to take on the iconic run, which will take place on Sunday, April 21.
Mike is hoping to raise £3,500 for the charity through his efforts, and with the big day approaching, he is right on the cusp of doing so.
The response to his charitable effort is one which has been gratefully received by the family who say they are overwhelmed by the support.
Mike commented: "The support and outreach to Zoe this week has been very emotional. Thank you all."
Zoe added: "[That's the] understatement of the year. It was quite overwhelming but in a really lovely way.
"The fund-raising is going well, thanks everyone for all of the kindness, support and generosity."
