POLICE say an investigation is underway after a dog attacked a woman and her pet at Irvine beach park yesterday, Tuesday April 25.
The Times contacted Police Scotland after hearing reports about the incident online.
These reports alleged that a dog "was mauled by another off the lead dog" when walking in the popular seaside spot.
It added that thanks to the help of some passers-by, the injuries to the pet pooch that had been attacked were limited.
Though they still had to be taken to the emergency vets - where surgery was required.
And Police Scotland were able to verify that an incident had taken place around that area yesterday evening.
A force spokesperson said: “Around 7.45pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, police received a report of a dog attacking a woman and another dog in the Harbour Street area of Irvine.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
