Many of North Ayrshire’s shops and services will close on Monday as a sign of “respect” for the Queen’s funeral.

North Ayrshire Council have announced that all buildings, including schools, educational establishments, early years centres, libraries, household recycling centres, and depots will be closed on Monday.

Services such as bin collections will also be suspended until Tuesday with the council providing households with bins due to be emptied on Monday with further information on when they will be collected.

The council’s out of hours team will still be available to deal with any emergencies and can be contacted by calling 01294 310000.

Asda stores in Irvine and Ardrossan will be closed, and Tescos in Saltcoats and Irvine will be closed until 5pm.

However, Lidl stores in Stevenston and Dalry will remain closed for the whole day and will reopen on Tuesday.

Both Sainsbury’s shops in Saltcoats and Irvine will be closed, but the Irvine store’s petrol station will reopen in the evening.

Irvine’s Rivergate Shopping Centre will be open - however 37 of the centre’s 51 shops will remain closed for the full day.

These include Greggs, Specsavers, New Look, Primark, Boots Opticians, Superdrug, Santander, Wilko, and Poundland.

A handful of shops will have reduced hours including Boots which will be open from 12-4pm, Auld Brig and CEX which open at 1pm, JH News which will be open until 10am, and the centre’s Asda, as mentioned above, which will open at 5pm.
